It was a super tough decision (and it took us quite awhile to reach it), but we’ve finally picked our PROJECT: Magic Kingdom Hearts Best Photo 2013 winner. We received some great submissions, but this photo, taken by Jillian, stole the prize.
Jillian, you will be receiving your Gamestop giftcard shortly. Congratulations!
And thank you to everyone who submitted photos towards this contest. It has been wonderful, seeing your dedication towards this movement.

I collect action figures.
No, I still haven’t grown up.
I have been searching the web, browsing thrift stores, and checking the latest deals just to get the best exchange for my cash. It’s certainly not a cheap hobby, but it’s one that I truly enjoy. The thrill of hunting down, cornering, and haggling for that piece I’ve been searching for for months is really exciting.
However, few things are more disappointing than receiving that special figure in the mail, only to realize that it isn’t quite so special as you thought. Despite your best efforts, you’ve actually purchased a cheap knock-off, or “bootleg,” of the real deal.
I’ve actually suffered this calamity, and I can certainly say I’ve run across many bootlegs in my path of nerd-dom. Through this article, I’m hoping to shed some light of legitimacy on the dark world of unlicensed products. If you yourself are a figure collector, or happen to have a few odd ones laying around, read on for curiosity’s sake, if nothing else.
I, myself, am a collector of video game action figures—everything from Nintendo to Square Enix, with a few assorted franchises scattered in-between. While I have no experience collecting other popular figures, such as anime, Marvel, or My Little Pony, I have done enough research to know that most of these tell-tale signs are pretty much constant, regardless of the figure or series involved.
Another article written by our project manager. If you collect Kingdom Hearts action figures (or action figures in general), be sure to give it a look for some helpful advice! There are a LOT of fake Kingdom Hearts action figures out there!
There’s a special something about Kingdom Hearts. For years I’ve tried to put my finger on the definition of this something, but I’ve never come up with a satisfying answer. One thing I know for sure is that—personally—no other video game franchise has been so influential and thought-provoking as this one. A deceptive depth underlies its simplistic, Disney-esque feel. Its characters have grown on me—and almost grown up with me—to the point where I regard them as “old friends.” The lessons I’ve learned from this franchise as a whole can’t all be listed here, but I’d like to highlight some of them, none-the-less. They have touched my life and influenced my convictions, and for that I believe they deserve recognition.
An article written by our project manager, Cutsceneaddict. It was published on KHInisder earlier this year. Be sure to check it out!
This just in! One of our supporters, Bryan—a Roxas cosplayer who attended our event last month—recently went to Disney and he has some exciting news to share!
“I was talking to a Disney employee today that was a KH fan and he told me in the coming months Disney will be releasing two new sets of KH trading pins! Included will be Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Riku. Not sure what the other 2 will be, but still exciting!”
Press “like” if you’re glad Disney is starting to acknowledge more of Kingdom Hearts! Reblogg to spread the exciting news!
An album of the PROJECT: Magic Kingdom Hearts scavenger hunt entries will be up soon on our Facebook page. In the mean time, check out one of my favorite pictures. Participants had to stand next to, and imitate, the Gaston statue (or Disney statue) at the park. This team got creative.
